CHECKED / UPDATED 19/08/2010 @ 8.00AM
All Passengers travelling to the USA on or after 12th January 2009 on the Visa Waiver Program must obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization ("ESTA") before they travel.
It is highly recommended that you submit your details to the ESTA system at least 72 hours before travelling to allow time for your application to be processed.

Once issued, an ESTA is valid for travel for 2 years, or the expiry of the passport specified, whichever happens first.
Each ESTA issued is only valid for the Passport specified.
If you hold dual nationality or multiple passports you must therefore obtain a separate ESTA for each passport that you plan to use for travel to the USA.
